March 22, 2015Slipper Day Stakes Win for Peeping
Sydney, March 21 – Promising Redoute’s Choice filly Peeping has always promised to deliver a stakes success and did so at Rosehill on Golden Slipper Day with a tenacious win in the Listed ATC Sebring Sprint.
Ridden by Sam Clipperton for his former master Ron Quinton, Peeping raced handy before holding off the challenge of Music Magnate to win the 1200 metre sprint by a neck.
“Everything panned out well, he gave her a lovely ride, was patient and got the result,” Quinton said.
“The first time I saw her I said this is a racehorse.
“The speed was drawn inside us and Sam gave her a great ride.
“She’s only lightly framed but she’s got plenty of guts.”
Part-owner Ton Kelly said it was important for the filly to earn black-type.
“It really means the world,” Kelly said.
“She is the first foal of a very well-performed mare for us so it’s very exciting to come out and win a black-type race on slipper day.
Peeping has won three of her six starts with prizemoney nearing $140,000 and is entered for the $500,000 Group II ATC Arrowfield Sprint at Randwick on April 11.
Peeping is a homebred for the Kelly family of Newhaven Park and is the first foal of Group II winning Encosta de Lago mare Miss Marielle, who was bought as a tried horse at the 2009 Inglis Easter Broodmare Sale for $250,000.
A Listed winner when she was purchased, Miss Marielle excelled for new trainer Joe Pride and added the Group II STC Hill stakes and Group III AJC Craven Plate to her resume in her new ownership.
Miss Marielle has a yearling colt by Redoute’s Choice that will be offered by Newhaven Park as Lot 56 at the 2015 Inglis Australian Easter Yearling Sale.
