July 14, 2009Nittan’s Crown Takes Cup
Australian-bred Nittan’s Crown added another Macau feature to his record when he took the HK$800,000, Macau Cup (Mac Gr 2) over 1500m at Taipa on Sunday night.
Nittan’s Crown finished too well for his rivals in the straight run to get up and beat Si Foo by a head.
It was the second consecutive major race victory for Nittan’s Crown (pictured, black cap) following his last start success in the HK$1.2 million Macau Gold Cup (Gr 1) over 1800m.
Nittan’s Crown was purchased for $180,000 by trainer John O’Shea from the draft of Newhaven Park Stud at the 2005 Magic Millions Yearling Sale at the Gold Coast. Racing as ‘Just Mambo’ he won twice, most notably the Phar Lap Stakes (Gr 2). Since transferring to Macau, he has now won approximately HK$2 million.
