December 23, 2024Newhaven graduate strikes gold at Eagle Farm
Newhaven Park sales graduate Gold Bullion (NZ) scored a determined maiden stakes victory at Eagle Farm on Saturday and is now set for a big Queensland campaign over the Christmas-New Year period.
Only second-up from a spell, the lightly-raced 4-year-old son of multiple NZ champion sire Savabeel landed the BRC Members Mile (LR) under a customary strong ride by Regan Bayliss and largely due to another outstanding training effort by Gai Waterhouse & Adrian Bott.
Speaking on behalf of the training partnership after the game victory, stable representative Juliet Partridge stated: “He was really brave today … He is a lovely horse that is very straightforward and is glowing in the coat.”
Partridge also confirmed that the $500,000 The Wave (1800m) on Saturday 4 January is expected to be the next assignment for Gold Bullion (NZ) who is raced by an ownership group comprising Newgate Bloodstock, China Horse Club Racing Pty Ltd, Trilogy, Newgate S F, Horse Ventures, Go Bloodstock Australia, Starlight Racing, Grant Bloodstock Pty Ltd, Carpe Diem, Aston Bloodstock, Nick Vass Bloodstock, G1G Colts & Breeding Pty Ltd & Aristia Park Bloodstock Pty Ltd.
Raced in the colours of China Horse Club, the 4-year-old gelding is now the winner of $275,100 in prizemoney following three wins, three seconds and two thirds from 14 starts.
Gold Bullion (NZ) was a member of Newhaven Park’s 2022 Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale draft when he fetched $400,000. His very prominent 3-year-old performances included a photo-finish second placing in the Group 3 ATC Frank Packer Plate (2000m) and a Flemington victory at 1800m defeating fellow Newhaven Park stakes winning graduate Sunsets.
