April 19, 2015Newhaven Bargain Wins Stakes
April 19 – Probably one of the least expensive horses bred and sold by Newhaven Park, three year-old California Dane gelding Éclair Choice was rewarded for his consistency when breaking through for his first Black Type success in the Listed SAJC Redelva Stakes at Morphettville on Saturday.
Cherry ripe at his third run back from a spell following two second placings, the Phillip Stokes trained sprinter overcame a wide draw to win the 1100 metre dash by a length and a quarter.
A $5,000 purchase for Thomas Li from the Newhaven Park draft at the Magic Millions National Weanling Sale, Éclair Choice has won four races and placed six times from 11 starts earning over $200,000 in prizemoney.
He is the best of five winners from Bounce, a Woodman (USA) daughter of Golden Slipper winner and Champion 2YO Burst.
Newhaven Park sold a weanling filly from Bounce by triple Group I winner Helmet for $72,500 at the 2014 Magic Millions National Weanling Sale, the filly successfully pinhooked into the 2015 Inglis Premier Yearling Sale where she sold for $120,000.
