Outstanding first foals
have arrived for Delago Deluxe
at Newhaven Park

Multiple Group 1 winning sprinter and unbeaten Champion 2YO, Delago Deluxe (Encosta de Lago x Succeeding) has his first foals on the ground at Newhaven Park.

“We couldn’t be more pleased with the foals, they are outstanding,” said Newhaven Park’s, John Kelly. He has really put his stamp on them, they are well balanced with beautiful heads and very strong behind. We have been eagerly awaiting the arrival of his foals and he certainly hasn’t disappointed us.”

Delago Deluxe served 110 mares in his first season and both Jonathan D’Arcy and Vin Cox have had this to say about the foals they have seen.

“They are well made individuals, with good bone and shape to them, above all else they have plenty of presence”, stated Vin Cox.

“The colt out of Lounge, looks like his father, good head and eye with plenty of strength through his hip and hindquarters. If he keeps getting them like this colt breeders who supported him will be very happy”, said Jonathan D’Arcy.

Delago Deluxe is by the same sire as Northern Meteor and has a similar race record to the ill-fated Champion Sire. He was an explosive sprinter, unbeaten as a 2YO winning a Gr 3, a Gr 2 (now classified as a Gr 1) and the Gr 1 Gold Medallion over 1200m. His 3YO campaign saw him win the time honoured Gr 1 Golden Horse Casino Sprint over 1200m, equivalent to Australia’s Newmarket Handicap and second to What a Winter in the Gr 1 Mercury Sprint winning a total of 7 races from 12 starts.

“Delago Deluxe is a magnificent looking horse with all the credentials and now we have seen what he can produce he is even more exiting. There are not too many stallions like him in the market offering breeders such value for money at a fee of $11,000. We will send more of our own mares to him this season”, added Kelly.

Delago Deluxe comes from an outstanding female family being closely related to Group I winners Duporth and Excites, not to mention Group II winner Ticketsand million dollar earner Staging. He also has a close up double of the great broodmare Rolls, joining an elite class of stallions including Danehill andNorthern Taste.

Delago Deluxe is standing his second season at Newhaven Park for 2014 at the same fee of $11,000 (incl GST).
