February 17, 2014HK Win for Magical Beam
Hong Kong, February 17 – A $50,000 Magic Millions purchase for Apollo Ng from the Newhaven Park draft is five year-old Zeditave gelding Magical Beam, who scored his first win at Sha Tin in Hong Kong on Sunday.
Trained by Andreas Schutz and ridden by Zac Purton, Magical Beam has not been beaten far in recent runs and took the 1400 metre contest by half a length.
Bred by Newhaven Park, Magical Beam is the seventh winner from seven foals to race from Beam, a half-sister by Scenic (IRE) to Group I winner Bollinger from Golden Slipper winner Bint Marscay.
The current yearling from Beam, a colt by Manhattan Rain was sold at Magic Millions earlier this year by Newhaven for $26,000 to Clarry Conners.
Beam had another colt by Manhattan Rain last spring and was one of 111 mares covered by Newhaven Park’s exciting young sire Delago Deluxe in his first season at stud.
