January 20, 2014Zac Spirit Aiming for Black Type Success
Singapore, January 20 – Resuming from a spell at Kranji on Sunday, talented four year-old Zac Spirit scored by nearly two lengths and looks set for a big campaign according to his trainer Cliff Brown.
“The Three Rings Trophy (Sng Gr 3 ) is where he is being aimed at,” said Brown. “I know there’s plenty of talk about him going for the four-year-old series, but I prefer to wait and see.
“I have to say I was very concerned when he was unusually slow out of the gates tonight and when he was caught three wide facing the breeze, but he was too good in the end.
“He’s pulled up well, but I think there is still a lot of improvement to come from him.”
By Flying Spur from Kidman, Zac Spirit was bred and offered for sale by Newhaven Park fetching $140,000 at Inglis Easter when snapped up by his trainer Cliff Brown.
A three-quarter brother to Singapore stakes-winner Zac Influence, Zac Spirit has won five races and placed three times from nine starts and looks poised to win a Black Type feature this preparation.
A stakes-placed Quest for Fame (GB) mare from the family of outstanding racehorse and sire Zeditave, Kidman has a yearling filly by Manhattan Rain headed for Inglis Easter and produced a colt by Redoute’s Choice last year.
