January 9, 2014Bjorn Baker Goes Back to the Source
Up and coming trainer Bjorn Baker plucked Magic Millions race favourite Unencumbered from the Newhaven Park draft last year for $70,000 and wasted no time in returning to the same vendor to secure his first purchase at this year’s sale.
Baker bid $90,000 to secure Lot 10, a lovely Dane Shadow colt from the smart stakes-winner Really Flying, who comes from the family of Group I stars Easy Rocking and Fairy King Prawn. A strongly built, athletic bay colt bred by Newhaven Park, he is a three-quarter brother to brilliant WA based filly Camporella, winner of the Group III WATC Sires Produce Stakes last season.Camporella was also sold at Magic Millions by Newhaven for $140,000 and has gone on to win just over $400,000 in prizemoney, so no doubt Baker will be hoping for similar success with this colt.
