December 8, 2013Unencumbered Stakes Magic Millions Claim
Sydney, December 7 – Exciting Testa Rossa colt Unencumbered may give up and coming trainer Bjorn Baker a Magic Millions runner after scoring a stylish victory at Randwick on Saturday.
A winner on debut at Randwick on October 12, Unencumbered was then a close third to Bold Circle at Rosehill on October 26 before being given a freshen up.
Presented in sparkling order and with the benefit of race experience, Unencumbered settled beautifully for Nathan Berry before sweeping around the field to chime in with a powerful run.
He surged to the line to win the 1000 metre scamper by a length and looks right on track for a tilt at the $2million Magic Millions 2YO Classic in January.
“Great result for a good team of owners,” said a delighted Bjorn Baker.
“Some of them are first time owners and some have been with me from the start. They told me to buy the horse I liked and this was the horse.
“He’s a very nice horse and Nathan knew what he was on and rode him accordingly.
“It’s exciting and hopefully he can get to the Millions now.”
Bred by Newhaven Park, which has been the source of current stakes-winners Champagne Cath and Charlie Boy, Unencumbered was offered at Magic Millions where he was bought by Bjorn Baker for $70,000.
From three starts he has already won over $120,000 with the promise of much more to come.
Unencumbered is the second winner from stakes-winning More Than Ready (USA) mare Blizzardly, a former brilliant two year-old, who won the Listed AJC Keith Mackay Stakes and placed in the Group II STC Magic Night Stakes.
Blizzardly has a yearling filly by Bernardini (USA) that is entered for the Inglis Australian Easter Yearling Sale and has foaled this spring producing a filly by Commands.
Don’t miss another sensational draft at Magic Millions 2014 from Newhaven Park.
